“Finna, daughter of Jofrior, a lass of only twelve years and squire to her...”
– Fall of the Snow Prince by Lokheim, chronicler to the chieftain Ingaldjr White-Eye.  Ysgramor and his Five Hundred Companions thus won the Battle of Moesring, earning their revenge for the Night of Tears and securing the lands of Skyrim for human settlement.  Ysgramor’s army was so impressed...

Finished Lord of Souls.
Spoilers after the cut, but I’ll say that along with Infernal City, it makes for a very good adventure tale and it’s well written.  I recommend it for fans of the games.  Provides a good setup for Skyrim.  There is a piece of Umbriel in the game, in fact.  Won’t say more for spoilers, but it’s something you can find out from Ysolda if you go into the shadier side of...

By leaving Alinor, Thalmor justiciars and...
Hence if they win the war, they believe they’ll die along with the rest of mortal creation. I guess that’s one good thing. From Lady Nerevar’s blog: “While they’re not as obviously hostile as agents or assassins, the Thalmor’s ambassadors are infinitely more dangerous…  They appear charismatic and downright cosmopolitan on the surface, but in truth they are the...

Tomb of the Eagles remains paint a darker picture... →
dead-men-talking: An “astounding” number of Neolithicmen, women and children buried in Orkney’s Tomb of the Eagles suffered violent attacks and died from their injuries, according to new research. Of the 85 skulls studied from in and around the 5,000-year-old tomb, at least 20 per cent — but potentially as many as 40 per cent — were found to have evidence of trauma.

Finished The Witcher 2.
Epic!  I got a little choked up at the meeting of the two Witchers. Such great characters.  There’s not a single character I love to hate in this game, which ordinarily I might wonder about, but it’s because they’re all so complex and human (non-humans included, you know) that it makes deciding their fates extraordinarily difficult.  Nothing is clear cut. The set-up for...

This thread in Bethsoft forums asked Skyrim players to name their favorite in-game books.  A non-scientific poll of the favorites: The Real Barenziah The Lusty Argonian Maid The Woodcutter’s Wife and its sequel The Cabin in the Woods A Dance in Fire Surfeit of Thieves Kolb and the Dragon Immortal Blood Hallgerd’s Tale The Locked Room I haven’t read even all of this...
